Osage is such a pain in the butt to work with.
But the result is almost always wonderful.
Your knife looks great!

It's always great when you get a tool with a personal connection.
Using the wood from his farm is a great idea!

I really like that handle. It turned out beautifully. Osage orange is one of my favorites even though it is hard as stone and a beast to sand and shape.

The shape of your handle is excellent in profile and scuplting. Looks like it will be really comfy in the hand.

The blade is well proportioned too. i am sure your BIL will cherish it.
 
Thanks guys! I just sanded the handle down to 600 grit and then burnished with 0000 steel wool and then applied a couple of coats of tru oil. I have used tru oil before and like it ok but for some reason it was a whole lot shinier this time. Almost too glossy for my taste. The only bad part was the tru oil that had dried on the tang was a booger to get off!
