Old hog hunt video

I found an old video of a hog I shot back in 2010. I shot it with a .50 muzzleloader, it's not graphic and there's no blood so I thought it would be ok to post.

I still remember that day, it was early morning and in the low 30s. at the time there were a lot of hogs running around my place and me and the neighbors were regularly knocking them off so they were really nervous and on edge. this one weighed out at #170.
here's the utube link. https://youtu.be/8kpoEhsqMaU

Good shot there at 65 yds with iron sights. Looks like at one point you could have got two for 1 shot the way they were lined up. Farmer want all they can get killed. Big pests.

Actually, and I hate to say it but that muzzleloader has a scope on it :(, I know that's blasphemy but that gun has a long range Green Mountain barrel on it. it's a 200 yrd rifle. one hunt spot I have is a good 130 yard shot so I tote that one there during muzzleloader season.
my others have iron sights though. I have another .50 and a double barrel .50 and for this year I'm trying a new one, a .58 flintlock. I have that one
sighted in for 50 yrds.
honestly though, most of my shots are 20-50 yrds.
I don't normally hunt over a feeder but that's the best way to get a hog.

Looks like a lot of fun!

Do these types of hogs make decent pork for eating? Or is it basically just vermin / pest eradication?

As Tony the tiger would say.....Theeeerrre GREAT!
Small ones anyway!, I would say any wild hog under #170 or so are great eating. there's lots of ways to cook them to change things up if needed.
