I bought a 60watt MOPA M7. Being a fiber laser it doesn't require Cer-Mark to mark or engrave steels. It can also produce a wide variety of colors on stainless steels. Diode lasers will need Cer-Mark or some other work arounds to mark steel. I have an XTool D1 diode laser for other projects. There are three types of lasers mostly being used today. Fiber, Diode and CO2. They produce different wavelengths and react with different materials.Randy do you mind sharing the laser you bought? I have been looking myself. Those results are awesome. Are you using Cer-Mark?
Yeah, there are kinda spendy. It will be used on more than just knives. I'm retiring in a few years and I'm also a gun nut. This is where I'm heading. Gun engraving.Very cool, I keep thinking about one of those myself. What kind did you get? The ones capable of etching the metal we use are kinda spendy!
