Off Topic...Been awfully quiet this week!

I generally make a stop by the forums 2-3X per day...in the mornings, at lunch, and then again at the end of the day. It's been awfully quiet around here this week! Is everybody busy with Christmas preparations or what?

If you folks are bored and need to talk knives, I have a knife chat on my website on Wed evenings.....I'd be happy to have you! If your interested, we start around 7pm MST at the following URL:

All you have to do is put in a name (no password) and come on in!

I'm not in any way trying to draw people away from the forums! Just another avenue to talk in real time with others. Generally we have folks from all over the place, and always have a good time!

One of thing I have ALOT of time for is surfing the forums, LOL. I find it funny you brought this up because yesterday I was thinking... NOT a very good day for knife forums the last couple days.

I'll bet everyone is tied up trying to finish off Christmas projects and preparing for the feast or travel.

I always regret that I'm usually out in the shop during Knife Chat and miss out on it. Perhaps I need to start taking Wed. off so I can benefit from all the Knife Chat conversations.

I wanted to thank those of you who showed up at last Wed's chat! I noticed that some folks had a bit of difficulty getting into the chat room, and I think I've found out why....

The chat software that I currently use has a very wide usage base, and has a lot of people in various chat rooms...but, they all operate from a central server. What does that mean? It means that if you have a common name, or you type in a common name when entering the chat room, that name MIGHT already be in use, and therefore it won't let you use it. The usernames for this particular chat software cannot contain spaces, which was a problem that a couple of folks ran into. You might want to try your first and last name, with an underscore between them, such as Ed_Caffrey, or do what I did and type your name in this format EdCaffrey, with no spaces between the first and last name. I made my username completely unique by making it EdCaffreyMS. Hopefully that will help folks solve any issues with getting into the chat room on Wed nights!
For now, I plan to stick with the current chat software, until/unless I can find something better.

I couldn't get in on Wed but did in fact use a space between first and last name. I was going to drop you a PM and ask you about it but once again you've answered my question before I asked.

Hat's off to you for working it behind the scene and coming up with a great little chat format. I'm sure any little issues could be figured out easily. I hope it's not out of place to mention, but I wonder if BossDog has a chat option. Not to change anything, but just in case you get stuck having to look for a different chat place for whatever reason.

Ed, I'd love to join you guys on chat nite but that 9PM Mountain time is about my bedtime in Eastern time. I still have to get up and go off to a 'real' job and it's hard enough to get up without adding lack of sleep to the reasons for not wanting to go.
