A better idea, I think...

I know I said a WIP would be great but maybe an even better idea, give us a list of materials for everyone that wants to participate, and a reasonable amount of time to gather them, and where to get them, and then all that wants to participate can make one together, more of a "build along" kind of deal. That would be ubber cool! What do you think about that!?

You didn't know what you would be starting posting this, did ya? Thanks a lot for sharing it, personally I have been wanting make some sort of jewelry for a while, I was leaning toward Damascus or Mokume kinda stuff, which would be great for this type of ring as well, but where would you be able to get either of them in a tube? Rex

i would love to make a build along, so other the giving a list of materials i just need to upload a regular wip, am i right?

as far as materials you will need:
silver/gold/mokume (it must be soft) mine was made from sheet silver that was cut to the proper length and silver soldered, it should be 0.3-0.6mm thick,
a tube or an existing ring can be used, if a ring is used it must be plain and flat, mokume can be made using sheet material and with a silver solder.

you'll need to decide the width you want (the final width) and add the thickness you'd like X2, this should be the minimum width of the base ring, it should be a bit wider so you would be able to work it later.

a piece of wood, preferably stabilized but a hard wood is ok as well, about 3.5X3.5cm, it's better if it's cut against the grain so you won't end up with the crosscut part showing in the ring.

and that's it,
see you all in... lets say two weeks?

Lee Lerman.
