You might try sanding it wet with CA or thin epoxy to allow the sanding dust to fill the crack. It might come really close to completely hiding the crack, and with thin CA wicking into the crack give some strength to the spacer. If you put a couple of locating pins thru the spacer it should still be plenty strong with a good repair to the crack. AND, with mammoth ivory it's not unusual to have a few cracks due to the ancient age of the stuff.
