New Forge

All that cold weather is why I live South of I-10 - but we sure had our cold weather a few days ago with 8.5" of snow and a low of 10°F temps. I'm concerned my lemon tree might not survive. I'm glad you're keeping this thread going, I think several of us are following with interest.

Hope to get out there today? Suppose to be mid 30s!! A friggin heat wave!! Snow here has been pretty slow but constant. 1" or 2 here 5-6" there but it's been cold the whole time so most of it has stuck around! This Winter I think you Southern guys have gotten bigger 1 time storms than us!! It's still early for the Northeast though!! Waiting for that 2 foot April storm (NOT!).

Finally some real forward progress!! Only 33 degrees but I had to do something on this project! Most all sub assemblies are done. The biggest PITA was to try and get all the keyed parts to fit together all at the same time. I thought this part would be the easiest and I was WRONG!! LOL!! I had clamps and stuff hanging off of the body. Another pair of hands would have been nice but... hopefully the rest of it will go together easier than this did! Starting to get excited to fire this up!! Nothing else will get done until maybe Friday. But I was pleased with the progress today!

Mounted the mixing tube. I dry fit the gas supply portion on the mixing tube. Im using Loc-Tite liquid sealer for the gas supply portion. Its to cold to use it outside so i have to bring it in and get everything warmed up before i can disassemble the gas supply and seal it all up. I will use the yellow tape on the burner and gas supply piping when I go back out! I HATE WINTER and the weather people say more crap coming our way! HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY!!

Gas injection tube and gauge done. I plan on putting a quick disconnect on here, but I have to still order it though. Getting close at least to fire it! Need some self drilling and tapping screws for the fan and 6" to 4" adapter. Brian House dosnt support the fan in his videos but I think I am going to figure out a way to support, just makes sense to me? Still to frighin cold out in shop but I'm trying to do a little bit a day!

This is driving me nuts. I went to install the Gas delivery portion of the forge the other day. It was still cold out and the Loc-Tite let go! So now I have to disassemble, clean and redo it all!
