As a water works guy, I learned that a 2" pipe has as much area as 4 - 1" pipes. I see many guys drilling a lot of small holes, but if it's weight reduction bigger is better. If you don't believe me about bigger is better ask any girl.

I typically do 1/2” holes or 1/4” depending on knife construction. Keeping in mind the location the holes.

Another question about balance. I understand how to see the balance point ( fulcrum ,see-saw, etc) ; is there a way to actually measure the weight of the area forward of the ricasso verses the handle portion?
