"My very first knife" - post up!

Greetings all
Been trolling this site for a while and finally got my first knife forged, and finished. Please don't be gentle on your critiques I'm an 18-year veteran of the Army handle anything you have to say.

That’s a first knife? Yeah, I’d say you’ve got a bright future in this!

I made and sold my first knife for $25 to a friend back in 1988 and never saw it until this summer he came to town with it for a tune up so I took a picture of it. Its made from bandsaw steel and elk antler. Pretty basic by todays standards but I was sure proud of it way back then. Look close to the scrimmed makers mark. Its a back to back BB. There are only about 3 knives marked that way before I got a stamp.

That was the year I was born. Knife aged better than me lol. This is the first knife I made

I’m super new to knife making, been at it a little over a year I think. Here’s the first knife I actually finished to the point of being able to put a handle on it

Wow, it’s nice to see this old thread still breathing. thanks for that.
sorry I’ve been away at Facebook but it’s nice to see you posting your first knives, some are great and some not so much but the pride in making a functional knife is the same. Keep it up and they get better and better. Be sure to test some of them so the heat treatment can evolve and you can sell with confidence.

This thread has been key to my persistence in knifemaking. Back when I started, all I saw were pictures of what looked to me like other-worldly creations forged by angels. Meanwhile my knives were almost good enough to be used to scrape out the bottom of the deep fryer at a D- health code rated corndog stand.
