My latest knives

HELLGAP

Dealer - Purveyor
The one in the sheath is from a billet I bought ,then had a friend weld a piece on to lenghten it . It still wasnt long enough so I added a wood laminated handle its really cool ironwood core the handle is stabilized spalted beach . 52100 core damascus . The sheath was an old one I had kicking around and fit perfect so what the heck . I only have 40 sheaths left in the box lol. The other 2 knives Im showing off the handles one Drop dead gourgous Ironwood and the other stabilized Mesquite. Now I know why I go back to Iron wood over and over it finishes so so nice,.

Those mosaic lanyard tubes are pretty cool! did you make those or buy them somewhere? The layer you made in the handle to make up for the short tang worked out really well, too.

I hate to be so picky, but I have to ask... in that 4th pic (spine shot) is that a trick of the light or is the spine rounded over? It looks a little wiggly to my eye. Personally I spend a lot, maybe too much time with a machinist's square and file trying to make sure that kind of thing doesn't happen.

As long as I'm being a pain in the neck, I gotta say I don't care for the sharp angle at the front of the handle, where your index finger would rest. I don't know if it would cause a weak point, but it looks a little awkward and uncomfortable. The other two knives look a lot more comfy in that front part.

Kelly, I want you to know I like you and your work. I admire your willingness to help new guys like me, and the fact that you always do your best. I've read a lot of your posts here and elsewhere, and I almost always agree with you. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I swear. But there's a lot of really knowledgeable buyers and collectors out there nowadays, and believe me they go over stuff like that with a fine-tooth comb. Please take my opinions as constructive criticism, not an insult.

Guys, I'm not bashing HELLGAP in any way, just being honest. If this post is in any way offensive, I will delete it and shut my big yap

Thanks all and James I appreciate your opinion and dont take offence to it . I will try to anser the things you pointed out . yes the spine is rounded over and I did that on pourpose . I was going to do some filing then changed my mind and I would need the edge to be rounded for a rope type file. With the laminated iron wood I changed my mind I should never do that and should followed through with the extra work . I have a couple customers that really like the big bold finger gaurds so Im hoping he takes it . the same guy has 5 of my knives now . The knife in hand really fits well so I left it the way it felt so good in hand. I know I made a small mistake but most people wouldnt know the difference . Im not usually happy until all the bugs are out but Im closing my eyes on the spine lol

I'm glad we understand each other buddy. I still want to know where you got those cool mosaic lanyard tubes ;)
