My frist treatment in my own shop.

Well I got threw the day with no shop fires and with any luck 3 newly heat treated blades. These are O1 tool steel. I used a formula off line and that someone gave me as guidelines. I'm hoping they turn out alright. Only time will tell.

It is. I bought it when I was a bit young thinking if I ever get a wild hair and make a sword I have what I need to heat treat it. I should of bought a smaller one. But hey you live and learn right.

I did the exact same thing 'cept my brother was setting up to cut rifle gun barrels...so I bought the 42" Paragon so I could help him normalize barrel steel...then he passed away and I'm heat treating small knives...but heating the whole furnace...lol.

Well keep in mind you can always send swords and big stuff off to get heat treat there may be no reason to have a deep oven if your biggest knife OAL is only 8"-10". Haha then your just wasting space.

Oh for sure I think the biggest knife I would make is 12 inch Kukri

An 18" long oven would be just right. Best to have an inch or so on each end more than blade length.
