My first knife attempt

This is my first attempt at making a knife. I got a set of leaf springs from my neighbor for free, so I thought I would use it to practice on.

I cut the rough shape of a knife like object with an angle grinder and cut off wheel. Then I annealed it and hammered it flat, bent the handle on my RR track anvil, and now I am trying out my 2x72 grinder. I don't think my bevels will turn out very well, but I am learning a lot in this first try.

Keep at it! That's a big undertaking for a first knife. The best advise I can offer is to not be afraid to make mistakes and to not get discouraged. Have fun and enjoy the adventure.

Thanks guys. I already have a smaller and completely different design drawn out another leaf spring, but one thing at a time.

Good looking first. Keep it up and always apply what you learned from your current knife to your next one.
Keep posting them.
