My First Acid Etched Blade

Had a finished blade sitting on my bench for awhile now that I wasn't to crazy about so decided to try to do some acid etching on it before I put the bolster and scales on. I have been wanting to try this for some time now so I figured no time like the present. I guess it came out OK but I don't think I will be doing any more. It just seems like a waste to mess up a really nice hand rubbed and then buffed finish on a blade. It takes me a good hour and a half to get a really nice finish and then I went and destroyed all of my hard work....:les:
What's everyone's thoughts on etching knives?

I like the pattern etch you did on that- not sure how you did it but won't pry for your trade secret:3:. I know what mean about taking a buffed out blade and etching it- seems like waste of time but basic etching looks good on a knife that has a 'antique' theme or is good on tacticals to cut glare, and of course for damascus.
