Monday night grinding practice

I wanted to practice a hollow grind on a dagger blade, and I wanted a boot knife, so I ground this one out from some 1084. Ground on a 14" wheel.

Impressive grinding, Sam! Overall lines of the dagger are very attractive as well. I hope to add a 14" wheel to the shop one day.

That's a fine looking blade. I would be proud to call that one of my own. Great job! Let's finish her up!!

Great looking practice. If you keep at it you will get there. HAHA Your lines look perfect to me not easy to get all those plunge lines to mach up.

Really good looking grinding Sam. Keep that up and you're going to start getting a rep for
polished, shiny pieces :)

Sam, GREAT looking grind. Never seen a grind done on 14 inch wheel before. Very nice. Do you plan to skeletonize and taper the tang? What do you have planned for handle material? Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

I want to checker the whole tang, it will be my first time checkering, and I need to buy a checkering file but I would like to try that. BIG BOLD checkering, low line per inch

Wow, that’s awesome!!
I know the members of this forum appreciate this, but until a person tries to grind something like that they can only appreciate the beauty, not the skill and artistry. I am still struggling to get my plunge/bevel lines “close enough” and find it both inspiring and a little discouraging to see a knife executed so well.

Oh boy did you voice my feelings so well: "both inspiring and a little discouraging to see a knife executed so well"!! Some day, just maybe..... I'll come close!

VERY nice, Sam! I picture a Ron Best style full integral personally :) . Have you found that file yet? I was looking for one a while back to give .25"/4 lpi for handle materials, but gave up.
