So do you finish the scales before you glue them on??? if not how do you finish the spine of the knife after you have sanded the scales to fit?

I do shape the scales before finishing the blade. I dry fit them to the blade and grind away until I achieve what I am after. I then hand sand them to 320 grit, take them off and finish the blade. After the etching and tumble they then get glued on. I wipe away all of the excess epoxy as it oozes out. Then I grind the excess pins down flush to the handle and finish hand sanding to the desired grit.

I like doing it this way so much that I think I am going to be doing it on all of my future blades.

Was the 'segment' a plan on the scale to help bland the carbon fiber pins?

Also wondering what kind of epoxy you use?

Nicely done! Inspiring!

Thank you! I was just trying something new with the racing stripe. I sell my knives on a bushcraft forum and I am just trying to stand out from the rest a little.

I am using G/flex epoxy with a drop of black dye added.

Finished up the sheath.

- 8/10 oz leather
- Oak leaf carving / tooling
- Firesteel loop (first try at one)
- Dyed dark brown using Fiebing's Oil Dye
- Waxed, white thread for stitching
