Mini Hawk

Something I've been working on out of the ordinary for me. Mini Hawk made from an old open end wrench. Still needs a lot of work! Plan on using it for kindling at camp.

That is why I started blacksmithing...The world has plenty of wrenches what we need are mini-hawks...well done

Ha, I picked up two today when I was that the scrap yard getting some steel for other projects.

Well lesson learned. "NOT ALL WRENCHES MADE ARE HARDENABLE STEEL!!" This hawk will only be a wall hanger!! It was a vintage wrench never did anything with it figured this thing is gonna be awesome!! WRONG!! Started to finish grind cutting edge and pick end and there were little to no sparks! So I tried to harden and nothing!!

Yeah I would think? The wrench should be hardened, at least that is what i thought!

With al I have on my pate at the moment it may be a whille till I get "free time" to do the things I might like to for myself but will definately do that before doing any work on them. Apreciate the heads up on the unsuitability of some of them although I would have thought that the older tools would have been made from 'good steel'

I agree that's why I never bothered. Also the steel was a bear to move even with the Little Giant hammer!
