Mild steel fittings

What is everyone using to prevent mild steel fittings from corrosion? It may not be as big an issue am I am thinking, but I’d like to try a couple and I don’t want to have an issue.

Putting a high polish on and then bluing or browning ,also in many cases you can heat color with a torch and set the color by quenching in oil. If your going to leave it in the white the more polished it is the less susceptible it is to corrosion, leave it at 250 grit and watch it rust.

I like cold bluing myself.

I have done a bit with Brownells Oxpho-blue. Surface prep is the key to a good finish

I like super blue or Plum Brown both by Birchwood Casey.
