Metal Testing Lab?

I am looking for a metal lab (or individual) to analyze some steel bars (for a device that I am putting together). I am using a bar from a ratcheting vice - clamp. I am told that the bar is carbon steel, but I need to know for-sure what type of material it is. Can someone point me to a metal testing lab that can do analysis at an economical price?
 
"IF" you state what part of the world you're in, USA? Europe? and perhaps section of country or city would help folks determine where best lab would be?

Do you just need to know that it is carbon steel, not a stainless or do you need to know the exact make up of the steel?
 
I need to know the exact make up of the steel. It is likely heat-treated high carbon steel -- but need to know composition.
