Mesquite and Osage Orange

Made this for a friend that's a baseball coach. Team colors are brown and yellow so I used mesquite and Osage orange. Natural pins and black liners. Steel is Nichols Damascus boomerang pattern. Still need to sharpen but hope to surprise him with it at the game on Saturday.

You did good on the knife, but the sheath really looks good also. Congrats - he's one lucky coach. With a present that valuable take care not to get caught up in the school admissions scandal! {g}

The sheath is by Jose Leather. He does an excellent job! I've made a few sheaths but nothing as good as Jose.

I hate to tell you this but the Osage Orange in that handle will eventually turn russet brown. Maybe if it's the South American variety it might keep it's yellowish color a little longer but the North American variety will oxidize within a few months. Other than that it's a great job on the knife. I'd carry it proudly even after the handle darkened.
