Lucky week for me! Tools, tools, tools....

Self Made Knives

Well-Known Member
You know how when you score a deal on a tool and you tell your wife? You know the "couldn't care less" look? That's what you guys are for, I've got to show somebody. First, last Sunday we stopped at a moving sale. I've been kind of wanting a little drill press to keep setup just for sheath work. And, what do you know, guy had little harbor freight model and was asking $50, got it for $25.

Today, a friend told me about a shop that had replaced a bunch of tools due to OSHA rules. Guy said anything that didn't have the correct guards and shields was replaced with new. A bunch of stuff was already gone, but I picked up a huge Powermatic variable speed drill press and a big Wells metal cutting bandsaw. Guy didn't have any idea what stuff is worth. After some haggling, I walked out of there with the two for $180! Score! Sorry, not bragging, just had to tell someone, my wife doesn't get it.

Man those are some sweet scores. I get the same loom from my wife too. Don't feel bad.

Oh do I know that look - and knives? Her idea is "you got one knife, what do you need with more?" When I ask about why the need for more than 1 pair of shoes, she says "But, that's different". Women! {g}

Good score? Well, if hitting the lottery is a "good score".... You're one for understatement. I'd still be in the yard doing an Irish jig.

PERSONALLY, I THINK ITS PERFECTLY FINE TO "BRAG" WHEN YOU FIND THAT SCREAMING GOOD DEAL!!!!!
I DID THE SAME THING LAST WEDNESDAY! ONLY MY WIFE, "GETS IT", now she DOESN'T understand why i would
"need" 2 drill presses, so I haven't pushed that one just yet, mine is on the verge of being done, so I will
AT THE VERY LEAST HAVE ONE GOOD FOR SEWING LEATHER!~!!!

THE screaming sweet deal I got was for a BRAND NEW TABLE SAW!!!! I was looking at it before BLADE, and
almost pulled the trigger on it then, but a smarter person (my wife) than I said "You better save that money for BLADE!
You can worry about that saw AFTER you get back, it'll probably still be on sale!"
Well folks, let me assure you
that I am usually NOT that person, the one that can put a good deal off like that and go back and it still be there, much less, be better!
It was originally priced at $350 (I think), I saw it on sale for $279, and I'm thinking, I gotta get it NOW!!!!BUT, I listened, I waited
until after BLADE, and even before I went to check the price on it, I got one of those ads you get on your Yahoo page
with the price of $269.00!!! I called the wife and said I want to go get it tonight!!!! And she agreed. when I was checking
out, the little cahier check out dude, says, "I never seen one that big before", I was like what are you talking about???
He then hands me a part of the mile long receipt they have to print out when you go to Sears these days and one of them
said, "$30 INSTANT CASH DISCOUNT", SO INSTEAD OF $269.00, IT WAS NOW $239.00, then he hands me a $5.00 gift card,
and I handed it back to him and said can I apply it to this purchase? He said I guess so, so now it was $234.00!!!
Well I was and still am a bit on the high side, such an awesome deal, but I had forgotten something, with my bank
they offer a cash back discount for shopping at certain stores when you use your Debit Card, which I did, its a 10%
discount with a maximum cash back of $20.00!!!! So my saw actually cost me $214.00!!!!
I still can't believe i got such a sweet seal, it usually doesn't happen to me that way, I mean I sometimes can get a pretty good deal
on USED stuff but rarely on BRAND NEW no DEFECTS equipment!!!

BTW, they still have some of those saws left and I'm pretty sure they are
like that nation wide, so check into it if you're in need of a new Table saw, this is a larger saw,
it does have the casters where it can be moved easily, but it doesn't fold up. So it will pretty much be a space hog! But this is not just for me, it will
be for my wife as well, she has to build some chicken houses, and really was worried about using the circular saw, not that she can't, she just isn't as
precise with it as you can be with a table saw!

I'm not trying to hijack your thread, you just reminded me of the great deal I got,
and I wanted to share it as well, and hopefully some more of you guys that are in
need of a saw can get in a great deal~

Hope this helps some of y'all in need of a new tool that otherwise would have cost a good bit of money,
even at the $269.00 price, its a steal for this saw! After adding a new blade, a good blade with carbide
tips the cost of it was less than the original price!~!!!

Ha! That's just about what my wife said. First thing she asked, "How many drill presses do you have now?" Of course, when I said "only three", she just shook her head and went back to what she was doing.
