Been waiting for some materials to come in. They’re here, so this is what I have in mind. I’m not up to the Bowie challenge. I just don’t feel my skills are at a level that I could produce a Bowie that I would be happy with. Instead I’ll be making one of my “Hunter” models. Steel is Alabama Buckshot pattern Damascus. Handle will be Spalted Maple with some of the blackest African Ebony that I’ve seen in a while. Red and black liners. Red spacer and brass pins. Hopefully you guys making Bowies won’t be too disappointed if you don’t receive one in return. I have a “Special Bonus” that’s included with the knife. I’ll reveal what it is a little closer to swap time.

Here's the materials. Plan on making some progress this week.

Not much progress the last couple of days. We've had thunderstorms in the evenings. I work out of my garage and don't like being out there with lightning popping all around. Did manage to get it profiled though.

Just cuz you're working with metal , surrounded by metal , and constantly holding on to metal, be brave man , don't be afeared on no stinkin lightning. ! BTW , i like the profile.

I may be an idiot but I'm not stupid. :). Had a close friend that was getting ready for a round of golf. He was standing at the back of his car with his golf shoes on unloading his clubs. Lightning hit the parking lot and ran up his spikes and into him. He collapsed and his heart stopped. Pretty much dead on the spot. Some other golfers saw him go down and were able to preform CPR and got him back. Recovered with no lasting effects but he's a mite skittish around thunderstorms. :)
 
When I was younger, my family just got off the lake from a day of fishing. Weather was looking kind of rough. Lightning hit the lake, came up the metal boat dock, skittered across the concrete, went up a metal light pole and blew out the light bulb. Scare the beejeezus out of all of us. Yep, I am scared of lightening. No problem admitting that fact.
 
I grew up in Macon Georgia and around 1991 I was sitting at a major intersection (Eisenhower Parkway) when lightening struck the power lines directly over my car. I had a gloss black 1984 Dodge Daytona Turbo and I could hear and see the huge blue arc reflecting off of my hood...I totally ran the intersection across all lanes with the turbo howling as the lines fell.
