The armadillo hide is stabilized and as hard as sheep horn or something similar. It feels very natural and comfortable in the hand.

I got the scales from a baby armadillo!:biggrin:

No,putting all seriousness aside,I get all my armadillo scales from the expert,Dewain Batton,in Jacksonville Florida.
He kills them,cleans them and stabilizes them. He's a good guy.
