After bollixing up the stabby thing I was working on earlier this month I came up with a 5" drop point hunter instead. The handle still needs some minor cleanup.

Knife is AEB-L from USA Knifemaker, heat treated by Texas Knifemaker Supply. OAL is 9 inches. Blade length from end of Ricasso is 4 1/2". Handle material is black G10 also from USA Knifemaker and Corby bolts. I tapered the tang a bit and also a bit of a distal taper. My photos aren't the best but it's what I've got for now. I need to setup my photography equipment again.

I still need to make a sheath.

Nice job Sean. The only critique I have is the transition from the finger choil to ricasso to bevel is a little off for me but overall well done.
 
I will echo Justins critique with the concern that being rounded toward the blade may (may, not will ) allow for finger slippage onto the blade
It may be the pic bit it looks like the upper scale in the lower pic is forward of the lower scale.
Blade shape forward of the plunge is good as is the handle shape.
 
I concur. Strong effort. My eye sees that one scale is a bit wider than the other. This could be the camera angle. I would keep the ricasso Corby back a bit more. Similar to your rear Corby. Way better than my 7th knife. I like the overall shape, I like the handle contour, I like the material choices, very nice knife. Keep grinding!

Yep. I'm actually in agreement with the transition from choil to ricasso to bevel could be a bit off? for want of a better word. I have this tendency to want everything to flow from one transition to another. However from a safety standpoint that transition should be less flowing and more safety oriented. I'll change the design on my next one.

And you are also correct on the scale. It's even on the top but not the bottom. I missed that completely until just now.

Thanks Dennis. I might try to even up the scales a bit more. I've had some real trouble with that. I bought 3/8" wide scales which meant I ended up taking quite a bit off to get the curves I wanted. I think next time I will use 1/4" scales. And the Corby bolt in the front used to be the same distance as in the back til I started tinkering :D

Overall I'm fairly happy with this one. It's much better than my previous efforts. And I really liked working with the AEB-L
 
Nice knife. As others have stated transition in the ricasso could use refinement. One critique I received chive early on was matching the front scale profile with the plunge line. I still fail miserably that. Good job.
 
Sean, it looks like there's some grind marks on the tang between the scales too. they may be grind marks from when you were tapering the tang.
