Kimmi's Cutlery Photos

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Here's a preview of the next set. Spalted maple with snakewood bolsters. I'll get them sharpened up tomorrow night and post more pictures with a better background.

Wow , that is quite a line-up. Some really great looking knives in that mix. I think your twist damascus looks very good.

Thanks Mike. I have enough damascus twisted for 3 more knives, just need to get the time to forge them. I love making the damascus but it's a lot of work doing it all by hand.

Here are more pictures of the paring and chef's knife with spalted maple and snake wood. I had a customer come in to pick out the handle material for a chef's knife, when I showed these to him, he bought these instead.

I finished another set of kitchen knives. These have osage orange handles with figured walnut bolsters.

The knife making has been slow lately as I have been so busy with cabinets, but I'm going to have to get more of these made. They sell as fast as I can get them done.

I have another batch of the gut hook knives almost done.

Last night I got the scales cut and glued on.

Tonight I shaped the handles on all of them and hand sanded and polished these 2. One with stabilized, spalted maple and one with stabilized, figured walnut.

I will be donating one of these to be given away as a door prize at a meet and greet for the republican candidates for KS governor.

I finished the handles on the other 3 last night.

I really like this walnut with the sapwood on it. It's hard to get a good picture showing the chatoyancy of it.

Gene...Beautiful work!! I like how you're serializing them. The knife store in my closest town want to carry some of mine but wants them serialized. I guess it's a good way of tracking them long term? Are you keeping records of wood, steel,HT, etc?

Thanks everyone.

Ted, I like numbering each knife too. And customers like it. I keep a picture of each knife and a list of every knife sold. I need to organize this better.

Since I only work with a couple of simple steels, keeping track of the heat treat process is pretty easy. I plan to send each knife out with a certificate that has all the details of the knife, but haven't gotten that done yet. I've seen a few templates of this and may just use one of those.

Really beautiful work, Gene. But wash your hands before you eat!
