Well gents gonna finally get to do me Camp Chopper class with Mr. Lamothe starting tomorrow thru Sunday! Looking so forward to doing it as a step towards my JS. This is the type of knife I'm planning on doing for my performance test. So stoked!! GF got me this for Christmas so it's even means that much more that she believes in what I'm trying to accomplish! I'm gonna try and take pictures but sometimes I get sidetracked!! LOL!!
 
So first day of class was a blast! Jordan is such a talented Smith! He makes knives like nothing I've done before. I was always taught to bang in the tip of the knife first, he starts with the handle first different for me? I asked why and his explanation made sense. So I may try some more like this. Trying to take notes and get stuff done ain't easy!! LOL!! 2 more days, tomorrow finish rough grind, heat treat and if time allows start final grinding. If anyone is looking to do a class in the New York, Lake George Reigon check out the Adirondack Folk School in Lake Luzerne.

Jordan is a good dude. I met him at a hammer-in in maine at the new England school of metalwork. Class act all around, hope you enjoy the rest of your class!
 
Day 2 of Jordan's class. Great time! Only problem is I keep forgetting to share!! Others waiting for a grinder and I'm trying to make my blade perfect!! LOL!! Learned so much already! Tomorrow's the final day! Gonna do a convex grind with a special soft platen, I'm in for sure!! Some more pics tomorrow for those interested.

Well my class ended yesterday was bittersweet, nice to be home sorry to have to go home. New information and processes to re-energize my thought process when building my knives. Another step towards my JS endorsement, new connections and friends! What a great long weekend! Knife I made was not up to my standards but it's very functional and I learned so much. Next one will be better. I will apply a lot of what I learned on the next one too! If any of you guys had any thoughts of going to a class for anything I would say give it a shot! I can't say enough about Jordans professionalism, craftsmanship and help as needed in the class! It was a great balance of his hands off and on when needed. Everyone in that class built their knives! Jorden was there to help with instruction and the occasional if you really need help I can do it. Great time!!

Yep! Typical approach to forging is blade tip/blade first for a hidden tang, and handle/tang first for a full tang. And I would bet dollars to doughnuts that you brain is in high gear now! :)
