Interframe question

I am in the process of making an interframe folder and have cut the pocket for the inlay too far to the back leaving no room for the pins that hold the back spacer. Is there any reason why I can't peen the pins inside the pocket prior to inserting the inlay. I plan on inlaying with mammothh tooth so do not want to try peening the pins through the inlay but would rather have them hidden underneath the inlay.
Thanks
Steve

Steven.
It's me again hoping to help not hinder. Sure you can do that and why not. It will give the folder a real nice uninterupted look, but make sure you don't have to take it apart again for further adjustments. Frank

Steve, I'm not sure exactly what your situation is, buy can you put screws under the mammoth ivory instead of pins? Dan
