Integral question...

Has anyone ever done or tried to do a knife with integral bolsters, without forging? My shoulders just aren’t up to the task, but I really like that style knife.

Master smith(Starts with V.) in California does one. All mill work cut section down for scales and cuts blade section down. I have a D2 block in the shop from a guy who did one years ago.it is 3/4 by 1 1/2 by 9 inches long.

Forging integrals isn't really as hard as you think. Using a guillotine tool like a smithing magician can help you isolate the masses without putting too much effort into it. Check out Nick Rossi's videos on the NESM channel for some good tips and tricks using the post vise as well (the integral chefs knife is a good one). I think he does use a power hammer for the initial flattening of the blade portion in that video, but he has others where all the forging is done by hand with his 2.5# hammer.
