KNIFE MAKER
so ... just giving you all an update. I have been filing and sanding and (HF) grinding. I have a few gone now for HT ... I'll post some pics later. Now I'm working on one for ME. I know what I want it to be and I'm slowly and carefully removing the stuff I don't want. I will post some pics tonight probably.

There you go. There's no rush to make a bunch of knives. Just be deliberate with the ones you are working on and do each step as well as you can do it at this time. Over time, "as well as you can do it" becomes a higher and higher bar, but the rule never changes. It does get easier.

I hear ya!! I sometimes get 2, 3 in my head while I'm working on one. Have to stop it!! Finish and move on!

FYI: It is okay to have more than one iron in the fire. I know it is an old corny saying but it kind of fits. There is nothing wrong with working on multiple knives at the same time. In fact, at least for me, it makes me more productive. I don't have to set up the grinder multiple times to do the same thing several times. Same with heat treating. Also, when I feel a bit over worked, I will slow down and draw up those ideas bouncing around in my head. Try it, make a couple of knives at the same time. I usually try to make them at least similar.

I agree with everything above. Switching belts and attachements takes time and if you can cut several out, profile them at the same time and drill holes without changing bits and blades it is actuall alot more productive. I do the same thing with gri ding bevels and I find I get into a better rythm grinding several at a time.
