^ that. TruOil is awesome but it will not work on oily woods.

my NO T.O. list:

cocobolo
most rosewoods
african blackwood
bocote


you can always try. if the first coat doesn't cure in 24 hours, clean it off with acetone or denatured alcohol.

Woods that won't take TruOil I sand to 1000 or machine buff and apply paste wax. I'll buff and wax several times to get some kind of shine, but I can't get all woods to shine, either.

This pic is sanded to 800... what kind of wax should I use. I realize that a lot of this information can be found online but I'll also find falsities as well.

Looking really good. Use some paste wax on it and buff it with a dry cloth and it should turn out great.

Congratulations. You set a goal, worked hard, and accomplished it. Awesome job!

Now, you need to get a sheath made, of some sort. Here are a couple of entry level leather sheath how-to's and build a longs that may help you out a little bit.

Just remember, google is your best friend.

Dennis, as you know I owe you a great deal of gratitude as well. Thank you. I haven't sharpened it yet, but it is pretty sharp. I can very carefully blunt it pretty easily though. Thanks for the links. I'm getting on that right now. Luckily I have a leather shop near me... I'm hoping I can make a sheath for less that $1500 in leather supplies. Thank you guys again!

Buy kydex material and save your money for a grinder. It won't make you better at grinding knives. But it sure does take a lot of the work out of it.
 
Looks good and congrats on getting one under your belt....now you are hooked and will buy a lot of tools and materials like the rest of us :)
