Hello Everyone,
I am selling this interesting full-tang hunter. The blade is about 5.5" long, and made from a piled construction. The steel is a mixture of w2 and steel that was smelted by me and my friend Ricky. This would be called orishigane or tamahagane by the Japanese (same material, technically this is orishigane. That means it was smelted in smaller quantity in a small furnace and not in a big tatarra). The photos do not do justice to this steel, even though they hint at the intricacy and beauty. There is a hamon that just can't be captured against that much inherent activity. The layers of steel that you see in the pictures each have other layers and detail inside them due to the process of folding and welding to clean the bloom.
I am asking $250 for this, shipping included in the lower 48. This is $150 for me (I cleaned the bloom and made the knife), and $100 for Ricky, who helped with the smelting. Ricky lives on Staten Island, and was hit pretty hard by the recent hurricane, and this is a way for him to earn a little extra cash.
