This design started out as a liner locking friction folder, as can be seen here - http://knifedogs.com/showthread.php?38209-HKS-Locking-FF-version-black-c-tek and was adapted to be a slip joint. I also build it as a pure Friction Folder.
The one pictured here was custom built for a client in the UK
UK legal HKS slipjoint, 3" N690 blade, brass liners and pins, stainless pivot, scales are African Black Chacate and the "bolsters" are Ivory Paper Micarta inlaid into the wood.
I built a special tool that works basically line a small rotary planer that I use to cut the wood for the inlay - so the scales run full length, with the ivory paper inlaid into the wood.
