Hemp wrap question

So I'm doing a hemp wrap for a handle on a knife I am working on. I've done a few before but have a question this time as I am going to be cutting off the cured wrap from last night to do it over. I'll post a picture when I am home

Donny question is, how many passes do you do of hemp? I currently use leather as a backing, and will get my shape carved out with typically 2-3 pieces depending on palm swell or not.

I've used 2 passes mainly, but want to know what everyone else uses.

I usually just do one layer of hemp, with the bulk of the handle built up by the foundation layers (leather or neoprene). Of course, hemp cord comes in a wide range of thicknesses.

Thank you! You're work is awesome. New grail blades

And last question, I've heard of the neoprene as a base before. Is it more comfortable than leather? What are the benefits of it?

I use west systems 3 marine grade wood epoxy when I do the wraps
