I found this forum in the process of trying to identify the steel in a knife I just bought. Seemed like a cool place so I thought I'd sign up.

I am interested in knives but I am on the early side of the learning curve. I can tell the difference between @@@@ and quality and I know what I like, but that's about it. I live and work on a farm, so every knife I own sees hard use and I have absolutely no interest in pearl inlays, strange geometry, rare wood, damascus, etc. If I was a production knife I would be a rampless Bravo 1.

Hope to learn a few things here. Thanks for existing.

I wasn't sure where to put this so I figured I would just attach it to my intro. Does anybody know what steel Jake Mello used in this knife? Or anything else about the knife at all?

Hi Seed and welcome to KnifeDogs! It is very difficult to say what type of steel is in your knife, I use several types of steel normally depending on the characteristics I may what to achieve in the finished blade. Your best bet for that info is to contact the maker and even then a custom maker that uses different steels may not be able to say for sure.
