Hello from Houston, Texas!!! My name is Steven and I am new here and to the craft of knife making. I am on this journey with my 14 year old son, Garrett. This just seemed to fit our lifestyle, hunting and fishing. We haven't really figured what I am going to do just yet, grind or forge, maybe both. Thus far, just a bunch of kits. We are gearing up now on new tools (grinder & drill press) and getting high on tutorials and videos

Thanks to everyone who shares the tutorials with us beginners. There are some great ones on this site. PLEASE keep it up.

Welcome to the pack! You have quite a few really great knifesmiths and makers within a few hours drive from you. A couple of Masters that immediately come to mind are Harvey Dean (Rockdale, Tx) and John Horrigan (Burnet, Tx). Of course, you also have our very own Les George (Corpus Cristi, Tx). I know there are others, but I'm at a loss right now.
