That filework looks great Heikki.
Just ordered a couple Valorbe files. Thanks for the tip!Tim, that looks terrific.
I think that you're correct about the files. I would recommend Valorbe files. Pricey, but good. Another one is Gesswein. Any of the quality jeweler files are expensive but, like any good tool , are worth it.
Great. Just wait until you use them ! You'll be amazed at what you can do !Just ordered a couple Valorbe files. Thanks for the tip!
Yeah, that's the real trick. You pretty much need a third arm. I end up just eyeballing. You could lay out a line or clamp a straight edge to it. I use the anvil part of my vise, so have to hold the punch and blade with one hand, and hammer with the other.Thanks. I just ordered a set. How do you keep the lettering straight?
I have a somewhat magical answer. But, I cannot get post image to work. I will post a picture of what I use when/if post image decides to work properly.Gotcha. I was hoping that you had some magical easy answer!
Slow is slow...Not having to start over is fast...figure slow is smooth and smooth is fast...
I have the 1/4 inch stamps. The hole will change with each set. The tool is just short of 8 inches long. The dials on each side are tapped and hold the blade solidly in place. The stamps are held in place with the cut out. Thanks , Dennis. What are the approximate dimensions?
Thanks. Just another thing to build.I have the 1/4 inch stamps. The hole will change with each set. The tool is just short of 8 inches long. The dials on each side are tapped and hold the blade solidly in place. The stamps are held in place with the cut out.
I used to use my initials to mark my knives. The first ten knives that I made have DWM stamped on the ricasso on the right side. When I got a knife stamp, I stopped using this tool. If you have one of those knives - you are about $5.00 richer...
