I loved having a height gauge when I shared my shop with a CNC mill guy. I tried to go cheap and buy one made for wood work, not a good purchase. Can’t wait to get funds for a good one.
Unfortunately, when I was trying to buy one, the Grizzly was on back order for like almost a year. I ended up getting a digital one from Amazon that may not be quite as good, but still does the job. Now, I couldn't make a knife without using it.
I love mine,I've had it about 5 years and its invaluable ,I have found that after forging a blade and surface grinding the recoso and flats clean your hammer forged bevels might not be exactly on center so I clamp the recoso and tang to a 123 block and after making your calculations you can scribe a center line down the blade edge even when bn it's a bit wonky if that makes sense.
