Grinding an American Tanto tip

I got an after Christmas order for a long knife or short sword, whichever you wish to use. The customer drew what he wants and it is basically a 14 inch blade with an american tanto tip. No sori, no weird stuff just a parallel blade, american tanto tip with a Japanese style handle I have never ground an american tanto tip but my initial plan would be to zero grind the main bevels and then grind the tip using the same angle trying to make the lines meet and look decent? Anyone have any experience with american tantos? Advice? Pitfalls? Please and thank you.
