Hey all - joined the forum a few weeks ago and have been busily reading up! Acquired a Kalamazoo 1x42 some time back and have sharpened everything in my house and a few of the neighbor's houses as well. That was so much fun I recently ordered a knife blank and some scales. I'm collecting tools I "need" as I go along, and plan to grind my own blade after I know I can do handles. Like to practice on something I'm not emotionally invested in. =)

Welcome to KD. I started doing handles, did then for about 18 months then did a little leather work. Been forging my own blades now for about 20 months. Lots of good info and help here. Ask all the questions you like and you will get tons of help.
