All etching is complete and a coat of Gun Kote has been baked on. This was the first time using Gun Kote and i think I'm going to be using it more often.

Thanks everyone. While I'm putting the finishing touches on the knife, I started on the sheath. I decided to use some dyed black leather for it. I start out by tracing the knife, then drawing the sheath shape around this drawing.
After cutting this out, I trace it on the leather and cut it out. I leave the top longer and wider so I can fold it over and trace the front onto the fold over for the belt loop.
Next, I trace and cut the sheath front.
After cutting the welts, I glue them to the sheath front.
Here is the retainer strap and how it will fit on the sheath. I'll trim the larger part down once I get the sheath all put together.
And here is where I ended the night after running in to a dilemma, I don't like the brass ball head stud. If I use it, it will be like rushing through a knife just to get it done, or overlooking small scratches that nobody may see. I just can't do it. I'll have some black ones here by the end of the week.

It's finished! I have to appoligize, I forgot to take pictures of the rest of the sheath making process. Once I got the ball head stud installed, I glued the sheath together, sanded the edges and drilled the stitch holes.

Here's another thing I do when sharpening an etched blade, be it damascus or a hamon. I tape the blade before sharpening. This prevents getting fine scratches just behind the sharpened edge.
Once I get some good pictures of this one, it will be on it's way to scherf68.
