friction folder help

Do any of you Dogs make friction folders? This may seem like a silly question, but I am having trouble in figuring out just how to shape the tang area of the blade, so it will close into the antler handle, and still open up. so far all I have done is draw and use cardboard cutouts of the blade put in a piece of antler to figure out the shape, and have give up on it, and am ready to try again. Also how are some good ways to cut the slot in antlers for folders?
Thanks for any help. Dale

What I've done in the past doesn't always come out well, but I am working on a jig arrangement that may help. In the past I cut the the slots with a 1/8" thick abrasive metal cut off wheel mounted on a bench grinder, holding the antler free hand on the tool rest. The blade slot only needs to be well started, then finished with a Dremel tool. The front area where the tang swivels has to be all the way through and line up with the blade slot. Not always easy freehand. I have ruined a few tips, but here is the result of a decent cut.

Very nice knife LRB, and thanks for the tip. I have got to try one of these again, there is something about a nice friction folder that appeals to me, especialy with an antler handle.
Thanks, Dale
