Flipper with or without thumb stud ?

Thumbstuds on a flipper...

If the maker wants to do both that is completely up to the maker, the only one it will impact is the maker as to if it sells or not. Of course if it is made for a customer they can decide what they want, my opinion is to have both, sometimes you can't grip the handle the right way to use the flipper and sometimes you can't get a hold of the thumb stud, it's nice to have options. I have a Kershaw that has both, I usually use the thumb stud. The flipper on it isn't long enough to make it easy to use, unless you have the room to flick your wrist.

As makers we have to make what we feel is right, speaking for myself if I'm not feeling the blade and how it's progressing- I know it won't be all it can be. My heart has to be in every blade I make, I put everything into each one. I know it sounds weird, but that's just me. Just my take on it.
Ed a simple suggestion, make 2 or 3 identically, do some with both and some with either or. See how well they sell. Might be an indicator or might not. Of course your knives are so awesome, I think you could put the blades on backwards and they'd still sell! Rex
