First try at scrimshaw

Well, I found some old cow bones a few weeks ago and thought I'd give a try at scrimshaw work. Watched a couple guys on YouTube and went to town on a practice piece. What do you guys think? Any advice, other than keep practicing, I kind of know that one.

I think you may have a natural talent. I once set out to do scrimshaw one cow-bone, I soon found it was hard as the devil and opted for carving with a dremel. I did not like the result. The quality in work like that comes from the texture and shading and a whole lot of patience!

I think you have got a future in scrim, keep scratchin. I use to do a lot of art work when I was a kid but I found that does not necessarily translate into anything when you get my age!

Anthony,

It's hard to believe it's your first attempt! Very nice. You obviously have a talent for it!

I'm not a scrimshaw fan (just my personal flavor) but that being said I think you did a heck of a job for you first go at it.
