First mustard etch! neck knife

IMG_1502.JPG IMG_1504.JPG I used a Qtip to dab the blade after I taped the bevel. I waited about 1/2 hour before rinsing. I still after do the other side. Do most dab the edges all also? Before and after pics.
 
What kind of mustard did you use. I let mine stay on most of the day and it never came out looking like that. The knife pictured had three applications over three days!
 
That is from only a half an hour of mustard?!?! :eek: Did one of the Alien's creatures drool in your mustard or what? That is some seriously aggressive stuff.

Does look pretty cool though.
 
It's just Frenchs mustard. I sanded down to 800 grit and wiped the blade with alcohol. maybe that helped. I was surprised too how dark it came. I actually thought where the high parts of the mustard would be the darkest but it's actually the opposite. The vinegar must droll out of the mustard hills.
