First Damascus WIP

Me and my dad have made ourselves a small billet of twist damascus. 132 layers of 1095/15n20 made partially by hand and with our new mini press we built.

Then i profiled a blade and heat treated it.

Blade ground and ready for hand sanding and cutting shoulders for guard.

Then we hand sanded it to 600 grit and cut guard shoulders. Now its ready to etch.

Time for the good stuff. ETCHING!

Next is guard building i have some damascus but its too thin and i think im gonna have to weld 2 pieces together to thicken it up. Wish me luck.

change of plans decided to use a piece of stable koa I got from a friend. Guard is now rough shaped and handle is ready for drilling.
