My nephew is getting married this weekend and I made this for his gift. It is 3/32 1095 Japanese Nakiri with a western handle. The saya is made with basswood. The handle is Curly Maple dovetail bolster and Wenge. You know I had to do a hamon as well. I finished it off with KG-Gun Kote.
Thanks for the comments. I really had no idea how to make the pin for the saya but it turns out that if you chuck a wood dowell in your drill press and use a rasp, files and sandpaper its the easiest part of the project.
