File knife

Here is a knife made with an old Nicholson file. Something a little different for me. Left it a little rougher than my usual finish. Just seemed to suit the project.



Desert Iron Wood scales roughed in Copper pins. I really like the way this blade looks. Kinda got that Schrade Old Timer look to it. Anyway I'll post a couple pics when done!

My immediate reflection on seeing the pic was, wow that is going to be a nice handle from that piece of wood and then I wondered about the length of the ricasso as far as visual balance goes so will hold off on that till the finished article is shown. The old story of fools and children not seeing half done work

I agree with Vonn on the long recasso. Visually it might look better to move it closer.
I really like the blade shape!

I did the recaso wider to show a little more of the file? Calculated risk I guess.

Sometimes a sugestion of the file origin is more appealing than in your face and out loud from the ones I have done.
