If anyone has first hand experience with this model, I'd be interested in any info you can provide. Mainly on performance and time to reach temp of a 120v oven. Pros & cons.
I have an older model 418 in the shop. I've never been overly impressed with it. It works, but for any temp above 1400F, it take a LONG time to get there. Supposedly mine tops out at 2100F, but I've never been able to get it to that temp. I have managed to get it to 1950F, but it takes forever (4+ hours). I got fed up with it, installed a PID on it, and now use it strictly for a tempering oven.
I've recently been looking at the Sugar Creek Kilns I've spoken with them a couple of times...their 24" model, with a digital controller installed, with shipping is around $850.
Thanks Ed.
That's what I was looking for and had my suspitions about a 120v oven.
At the moment I have limited 220 in my shop (1 plug) and was looking at alternatives to adding another sub panel but it's pointing in that direction.
