Electroplating

Hey guys I just came across a video where some guys were electroplating a piece of steel using copper and it was really COOL. Would I be able to do this on a knife blade and if so would there be any downsides to it thanks for any and all help

I'm sure it would work if you just wanted to look at it and keep it polished. If you used the knife it would scratch and eventually wear off.

I thought that a copper covered kitchen knife would be awesome. So I'm not sure if that would work lol

I've been researching this too. Check out Dylan Farnham of Sage Blades. He does some incredible finishes on his straight razors. He calls it "selective" copper plating (or gold, or silver) with some kind of antiquing. I'm not sure about durability, but they sure look stunning.

Copper is real soft. It would be pretty though!
