:w00t:Either I am getting hard to live with or............. maybe I am just and A-hole. I just walked away from another knife site I had my say and told them they were highly overrated. Actually I took the high road and didn't say what I would have liked to have really said! This particular site and me have had bad feelings off and on before.
The forum which I am speaking of is highly centered on how much money they can make from different levels of paid membership. You know I get it, it does cost money to run these sites and sites like this one (Knifedogs.comforum)have figured out how to treat this need for funds without doing anything to stifle the members!
The particular site I am referring to well........................I can name several big name makers, (don't get me wrong, I am not a big name) that have walked away from this site. I have personally talked to several and they list reasons like constant bickering and young members that are just plain insolent to the seasoned knife makers, lack of control by moderators, etc. etc.
What tore it for me I keep my grand kids and this morning I as usual I was looking at this particular knife site and my grand son is sitting in my lap and reaches over and clicks my mouse and the cursor just happened to be resting on add on the margin of the page. Before I could do anything to stop it an add for hook-ups opens with this girl taking off her top and saying lets do a hook-up!
I do not have a paid membership on that forum so I posted it in the one place I could without that paid membership that maybe we could do without those particular kind of adds.
Some folks that replied and said they understood what I was talking about and that their were add blockers I could install to stop it. Then the owner of the site had the cahoonas to suggest that particular add popped up becasue of my surfing history. Well guys I am secure in my manhood but I don't need to surf those kind of sites!
One of his moderators suggested I read the bottom of the page where it says you have to be over 13 to join the site. My grandson was not joining he merely clicked a mouse and I am not naive enough to not know one mouse click can get you into somewhere you did not intend too go. But I felt this was more of the kind of mentality that was souring my need to use their forum!
But the final straw was one of his so highly prized paid members suggesting that maybe I needed to frequent the Sesame street forum!
I told them I seriously doubted that it would matter too them but I was done with their site and deleted them from my history! Now I know they could probably care less but it is the principal of the matter. Paying a fee doesn't make you better than the next guy and ignorance is not bliss, and a paid membership does not mean your are intelligent! I have learned that on the net, don't say anything you wouldn't say to another person if you were standing toe to toe with them and that engaging a fight on the net usually does nothing but lower yourself to the other persons mentality!
Heck I suggested once here on this site that I got in trouble with the wife over one of the dating popups and Boss posted to the thread to see if it was something he needed take a look at this! I told him no the wife has always been the jealous type!:biggrin:
But this site I was complaining about was a step above the average dating site in my opinion.
Anyway I am so glad I found The knife dogs forum, as this has to be the absolute best run site on the net, bar none! A lot of thought was put into this site the different levels and how it functions and you know you just don't see the crap going on, on this site that you see on the others! Boss you need to take a big bow, and I am going to throw in a couple of hip hip hooray's along too you!!!! See my dog is cheering you on Boss! !:s12138:
Heck I just realized now I have more time to spend here or actually working on some knives!:w00t:
