dye rubbing off

I have a completed knife almost ready to give away but don't want to have someone wear the sheath for it and get the dye on their clothes. What's the right product for sealing leather after its been dyed?

After I dye my knife sheaths I let them dry at least 24 hours and then rub them with cloth until the residual dye doesn't show. Then I put a couple of coats of minwax on the sheath.

I rubbed it pretty good - but I thought that process was going to be never ending until I returned to bare leather. Good to know it'll stop coming off. I'll do that and get some minwax. Thanks OP

Resoline or Super Shene will seal in the dye and ever so slightly give the leather some water stain resistance.

Thanks for the other options Tracy. I may be looking for something that can go USPS - non-hazardous. Haven't checked yet to see if any restrictions on minwax.
